Kimmy, our "cover girl", the first smoker that we photographed back in May of '97, now has her own movie. In this two hour film, we follow Kimmy through five scenes. We begin with breakfast at the Little Gem Diner, where she smokes four Newport 100s. Then we conduct a half hour interview with Kimmy about how she developed her smoking habit and her feelings about smoking during pregnancy. Then, we join her again for dinner at Firekeepers' restaurant on the Onondaga Reservation, where her family is from. After dinner, we go to her parents' home for her 20th birthday party, where she is joined by her mother, Wanda, her sister, Tonya, her two daughters, Arianna and Teracina, and Tonya's daughter, Bianca. If you have a copy of our The Art of Smoking, Volume 1, photos of Wanda, Tonya and Arianna are there. Arianna is the baby in Kimmy's arms in the park on that CD and Bianca is the child that Tonya was pregnant with at the time. For her birthday, we gave Kimmy a copy of the raw, unedited footage from the Sisters film, and Kimmy and Tonya laugh hysterically as they watch temselves perform on their mom's TV. Finally, we wrap up with some surrealistic backlit shots of Kimmy smoking Newport 100s as she watches The Simpsons on TV before going to bed. Both Kimmy and Tonya are pregnant again in this video. Kimmy's smoking style is characterized by consistently long drags, pop inhales, several seconds of holding and triple exhales.
